Navigation of mobile robots based on passenger following
Publication/Patent Number: US10884417B2 Publication Date: 2021-01-05 Application Number: 15/806,213 Filing Date: 2017-11-07 Inventor: Asada, Haruhiko Harry   Assignee: Boston Incubator Center, LLC   East Japan Railway Company   IPC: G05D1/02 Abstract: Methods and systems for navigating a mobile robot through a crowded pedestrian environment by selecting and following a particular pedestrian are described herein. In one aspect, a navigation model directs a mobile robot to follow a pedestrian based on the position and velocity of nearby pedestrians and the current and desired positions of the mobile robot in the service environment. The mobile robot advances toward its desired destination by following the selected pedestrian. By repeatedly sampling the positions and velocities of nearby pedestrians and the current location, the navigation model directs the mobile robot toward the endpoint location. In some examples, the mobile robot selects and follows a sequence of different pedestrians to navigate to the desired endpoint location. In a further aspect, the navigation model determines whether following a particular pedestrian will lead to a collision with another pedestrian. If so, the navigation model selects another pedestrian to follow.

Publication/Patent Number: JP2019138041A Publication Date: 2019-08-22 Application Number: 2018021554 Filing Date: 2018-02-09 Inventor: Kobayashi, Toshiko   Yamamoto, Tatsuya   Kobayashi, Kaoru   Ryu, Mitsutaka   Assignee: EAST JAPAN RAILWAY CO   IPC: E01D21/06 Abstract: To provide a structure delivery method which makes it possible to deliver a structure to a prescribed position while avoiding obstacles.SOLUTION: A tunnel buffer construction 10 hits an existing electrification pole P when the tunnel buffer construction 10 is sent out in a desired direction. Therefore, a frame member 20, being a movable member whose arrangement can be switched, is assembled in advance to a part of the tunnel buffer construction 10 corresponding to the location where it hits the electrification pole P. Thus, it is possible to avoid impact with the electrification pole P by switching the arrangement of the frame member 20 in the process of sending out the tunnel buffer construction 10. This allows the tunnel buffer construction 10 to be sent out to a prescribed position while avoiding the electrification pole P.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

By designing a structure including two pairs or more of the paired first joint faces 21, and having two sheets or more of the first splice plates, a friction joining structure having much more friction faces can be provided. Publication/Patent Number: JP2019073887A Publication Date: 2019-05-16 Application Number: 2017199985 Filing Date: 2017-10-16 Inventor: Kaneda, Atsushi   Ikemoto, Hirofumi   Takasaki, Hideaki   Kobayashi, Kaoru   Assignee: EAST JAPAN RAILWAY CO   IPC: E02D31/08 Abstract: To realize the vibration displacement suppressing structure of an elevated rigid-frame bridge that can suppress vibration displacement of the elevated rigid-frame bridge caused by an earthquake motion, etc.SOLUTION: The vibration displacement structure 100 of an elevated rigid-frame bridge can suppress vibration displacement of a column 4 of an elevated rigid-frame bridge R when, for example, a swing caused by an earthquake motion operates on the column 4 of the elevated rigid-frame bridge R, because the amplitude difference and phase difference between adjoining columns 4 are reduced due to transmission of vibration by a rigid body 20 arranged to extend along an underground beam 3 connected to the column 4 of the elevated rigid-frame bridge R, so that vibration of the columns 4 is not amplified but is attenuated. If vibration displacement of the column 4 of the elevated rigid-frame bridge R can be suppressed in this way, a slab girder 5 supported by the column 4 is less influenced by the earthquake motion, so that uneven displacement may be less likely to occur in the slab girder 5 and the number of troubles in the slab girder 5 caused by the earthquake motion may be decreased.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
