Owing to the present invention the following can be realized: the memorization of one's PIN is not needed, in the point service in the shopping district, points can be doubled by a certain combination condition of IC cards, the issue of an IC card by a self-governing body is made possible on condition that a resident has his resident card issued by the neighboring self-governing body, and it is made possible to electronically process the administration entries which require a plurality of documents to be attached.

With the valve, very short switching times, in particular less than 0.5 ms, can be achieved with an economical mode of construction.

In an illustrative embodiment, the second mechanism (14) includes a series of slots, each slot adapted to receive and hold a media sheet. One sheet can be input into a slot at the input position (16) while another sheet is output from a slot at the output position (18). Several slots (14) may be incorporated into the mechanism (10), such that slots index from the input position (16) to the output position (18) with one or more intermediate stops in between.

The average level of the true main signal from which a noise component has been eliminated is determined by means of a wavelength analyzer. The average level of the true main signal that has been determined is correlated with the level of a pilot tone signal that is monitored, whereby the pilot tone signal again functions as the reference light of the main signal. The monitored pilot tone signal is then controlled to obtain the desired average level of the true main signal.

Thereby, the pattern of the magnetic layer is transferred to the magnetic recording medium. In a pattern-difference measuring step, a magnetic condition of the magnetic recording medium is measured so as to measure a magnetically different part between the pattern transferred to the magnetic recording medium and the magnetic pattern. In a magnetic transferring step, a pattern transfer is performed to the magnetic recording medium by using the master while applying the magnetic field so as to correct a magnetic condition of the magnetically different part.

If the target track is within a predefined distance of the ramp, and the transducer velocity exceeds a predetermined velocity, the seek velocity profile is adjusted to limit the deceleration current. The adjustment may be a preset factor, or may be a variable factor depending upon the distance from the target track to the ramp.

A loading/unloading passage (21) through which the hard disc unit is loaded and unloaded is formed in the container. The contacting piece is disposed in the loading/unloading passage. When the hard disc unit is loaded into the container, the hard disc unit is made to come into contact to the contacting piece before an electrical connection between the hard disc and the hard disc container is realized. Thus, even if static electricity is charged on the hard disc unit, the static electricity is grounded steadily prior to the electrical connection, thereby no harm being given to data stored by a hard disc incorporated in the hard disc unit.

At the time of joining together the upper and lower cases, even when the plug is positioned between a position which express possibility of recording and a position which express impossibility of recording, as the upper and lower cases are joined together, the pin relatively slides along an inclined surface formed at a top end of the projecting portion, and the plug moves to the position which makes recording possible. In this way, assemblability is good.

In a first magnetic head of the present invention, when the area of a non-magnetic layer is defined as a device cross-section area, and the area of a yoke is defined as a yoke area, viewed along the direction perpendicular to the surface of the substrate over which the yoke and the magnetoresistive device are formed, then the device cross-section area is not less than 30% of the yoke area, so that a resistance increase of the device cross-section area is suppressed. In a second magnetic head of the present invention, a magnetoresistive device is formed on a substrate, and a yoke is provided above a non-magnetic layer constituting the device. In a third magnetic head of the present invention, the free layer of the magnetoresistive device includes at least two magnetic films and at least one non-magnetic film that are laminated alternately, and the thickness of the non-magnetic layer is not less than 2 nm and not more than 10 nm, and magnetostatic coupling is dominant. In a fourth magnetic head of the present invention, a magnetic gap is provided adjacent to the magnetoresistive device and the magnetic films are coupled antiferromagnetically.

The position of the connector in the backward direction (Yb direction) is determined by having a back surface 36h of the connector 36 contacting a protrusion 70a of a dividing plate 70. The motion of the connector in the right-and-left directions (Xa-Xb directions) is controlled by having the left side surface and the right side surface of the connector facing the supporting plates, respectively, in close proximity. Since the connector is held in a status where no shaking occurs in any direction, there is no need to be sensitive about the assembling accuracy of the portion of the stereo device corresponding to the position of the electronic apparatus, and thus more freedom for back surface panel configuration of the stereo devices can be provided and this reduces the burden of the manufacturers when manufacturing the stereo devices.

The correlation meter scales have values from +1 at one end to −1 at the other end and are bent to start from a central point along one side of the display between the speakers representing the stereo channels to a point along the opposing adjacent sides of the display outside the respective speakers. A marker, either in the form of individual pointers for each scale or as a fill area that spans the scales, indicates the correlation between the stereo channels. The thickness of the fill area indicates the amplitudes of the stereo channels. Where a central sound source is part of the surround sound system, the marker may be in the form of truncated wedges, the wedge for the central sound source having a fixed width and the widths of the wedges for the stereo channels being variable so that the widths indicate the correlation between the stereo channels. The heights of the wedges toward a central listener in the display indicate the amplitudes for each of the sound channels of the surround sound system.
