Abstract: A lighting device that includes a first panel of light sources, where the first panel has a first edge. The lighting device can also include a second panel of light sources, where the second panel has a second edge, where the second edge of the second panel of light sources is mechanically coupled to the first edge of the first panel of light sources. The first panel of light sources and the second panel of light sources can form an angle relative to each other. Adjusting the angle can adjust the light output from the light sources. Abstract: An upper guide system for a solenoid actuated fuel injector of an internal combustion engine includes an armature having a first diameter section, a reduced diameter second section, and a concave portion at the transition between the first and second sections. The guide system also includes a guide shaped to extend into the concave portion of the armature and includes a central opening that slidably receives the second diameter section. The guide positions and guides the armature in a radial and an axial direction. The guide is assembled in an axial location that is close to the axial location of the center of the magnetic force acting on the armature. The guide system allows for a desired relative large guide length to diameter ratio. Abstract: A preamplifier circuit for processing a signal provided by a radiation detector includes a transimpedance amplifier coupled to receive a current signal from a detector and generate a voltage signal at its output. A second amplification stage has an input coupled to an output of the transimpedance amplifier for providing an amplified voltage signal. Detector electronics include a preamplifier circuit having a first and second transimpedance amplifier coupled to receive a current signal from a first and second location on a detector, respectively, and generate a first and second voltage signal at respective outputs. A second amplification stage has an input coupled to an output of the transimpedance amplifiers for amplifying the first and said second voltage signals to provide first and second amplified voltage signals. A differential output stage is coupled to the second amplification stage for receiving the first and second amplified voltage signals and providing a pair of outputs from each of the first and second amplified voltage signals. Abstract: A fuel swirler plate for improving atomization of fuel in a fuel injector. A plurality of identical fuel supply passages is formed in the plate, each passage including an outer fuel reservoir region; a region having converging walls wherein fuel is accelerated and turned partially tangential to the axis of the plate and fuel injector; a metering region wherein flow is regulated; and an exit region wherein the fuel is combined with similar fuel flows from the other passages to form a high velocity swirl annulus between the swirler plate and a pintle ball of the fuel injector. An advantage of the novel swirl plate over prior art plates is that, when the injector valve is closed, only a very small volume of fuel resides in the swirl annulus between the pintle ball and the exit region of the plate, and such residual fuel is urged rotationally and becomes the leading edge of a new vortex the next time the valve is opened, thus minimizing SAC spray formation. The present invention is useful in fuel cells, burners, and in both direct injection and port injection fuel injectors of internal combustion engines. Abstract: A method and device for the placement of sutures and for the purpose of approximating tissue. The invention relates to devices for approximation, ligation and fixation of tissue using a suture, to various constituent parts comprising said devices, and particularly to the placement of sutures into certain difficult to access ligamental structures, to the approximation of tissue separated by means of an endosurgical trocar being inserted into a body cavity, add to approximation, ligation, and fixation of body tissue using both traditional open surgical and endosurgical techniques and instruments. The invention provides for the loading of suture material including needles into the device, introduction and placement of the device into the body cavity, with the distal end having deployable needle guides, extending the needle guides either simultaneously or individually to the periphery of the wound, engaging the wound with the needle guides, driving the needles and suture material through the tissue to be approximated into a catch mechanism, retracting the needle guides and withdrawing the device, leaving a loop of suture material in the margin of tissue. The suture may then be tied to approximate the wound and excess suture material cut off. The invention also provides for the placement of sutures for the endoscopic approximation, fixation, and ligation of tissues within a body cavity including the driving and retrieval of needle and suture combinations, and facilitating the tying of knots.
