Abstract: The invention relates to a drill rod magazine for vertical storage of drill rod elements, having a base frame, on which at least one support means is arranged that has two substantially horizontally directed retaining arms which, by formation of a receiving area, are parallel to and spaced apart from each other, wherein the drill rod elements are retained in a vertical position between the retaining arms. Along at least one retaining arm a clamping rod is supported in a movable manner which is in operative connection with a tensioning means that exerts a tensioning force onto the drill rod elements for retaining the drill rod elements in a clamping manner in the receiving area. Abstract: Methods for monitoring the movement of latch members using wireless sensors include receiving wireless sensor data that indicates the rate of movement of a latch member toward an open or closed position. Based on correspondence between the rate of movement and latch function data that associates movement rates with functionality and life expectancy of latch members, the health and useable life expectancy of the latch member may be estimated. Additionally, if the movement of the latch member does not fall within threshold minimum and maximum values, or if the movement of a latch does not correspond to a command, output indicating a malfunction may be generated or pipe moving operations associated with the latch member may be canceled. Abstract: A drill rod handler provides rods to be used to form a drill string in on-shore drilling operations. The drill rod handler includes side arms which are moveable to encourage drill rods to roll towards or away from a center line of the drill rod handler. A working arm is arranged to grasp a centrally located drill rod, and to raise it from a horizontal to a vertical configuration. Abstract: The systems, devices, and methods described herein relate to a modular gripperhead system for a drilling rig. The system includes a gripper having a first gripper arm and a second opposing gripper arm, each gripper arm having an inwardly facing gripping surface that forms at least a portion of a chamber sized to receive a portion of a cylindrical tubular, wherein the portion of the chamber has a longitudinal axis. The system also includes a grabber having a first grabber arm and a second grabber arm.
