Abstract: An approach to provide power from power supply devices to power consuming devices based on using priority levels for each of the power consuming and supply devices. The approach includes the steps of receiving information of a power consuming device from an energy management, including criticality information obtained from a universal appliance service system. The approach further includes receiving power supply information of one or more power supply devices associated with an electric grid, and receiving a power request from the power consuming device. Abstract: A power control device (200) for an electrically powered appliance (10) may selectively switch off one 110 volt input (of two separate 110 volt input lines) of a 220 volt power supply to the appliance (10) during certain periods of operation, in response to a demand-response request. This may adjust operation of one or more components of the appliance (10), thus adjusting an amount of power consumed by the appliance (10). A determination of which one, of the two, 110 volt input lines to be switched off may be made based on an analysis of the amount of power consumed by each of the two 110 volt input lines during operation of the appliance (10). The power control device (200) may be provided at any point between the electrically powered appliance (10) and a power distribution panel (400) distributing power from an external source. Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods for controlling power modes in electronic devices are provided. A system may include an electronic device and an input device that sends power mode selection information via a network to a power mode selection receiving component in the electronic device. The electronic device includes a first power component that powers a first component, and a switching component that controls the first power component. The electronic device may include a second power component that powers a second component. The switching component may control the second power component. The power mode selection receiving component and the switching component may be powered independently of the first and the second component.
